Activities within the Parish

St Martin’s Soul Whispers program aims to nurture our spirit, mind and body we do this through our regular bible study groups which meet during school terms and yearly lenten groups to grow us in faith, discipleship and spirituality together. The Lenten studies incorporate the use of our five senses wherever possible and are normally visually stimulating and intellectually engaging. As part of the Soul Whispers program, the Rector also recommends yearly books and other resources for personal and spiritual development.

Lenten Studies – For several years the Rector has arranged the purchase of a Lenten Study booklet, based on a well known film, and has prepared a separate booklet of Bible readings appropriate to the study. The study and film differ each year. Groups watch the film, then have five sessions throughout Lent when specific clips from the film are analysed and discussed in relation to questions from the Lenten Study booklet. These studies have proven immensely popular with parishioners.

Workshops – The Rector often engages the congregation with other creative daily workshops throughout the year or with weekend intensive workshops or bible studies.

Seasonal Conversations occur four times a year in Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring with a variety of speakers to broader our perspectives on life, faith and spirituality, and followed by lunch.

Rugs for the Needy – Rugs are knitted by our volunteers and donated to the Mary Magdalene Centre.

Backpacks for Homeless Youth – We pack ten backpacks every month, six for males and four for females, mostly containing items to keep themselves neat and tidy.

Care Packages for Women’s Shelter – Individual care packs and food packs are distributed to women in the shelter.
